My husband and I cannot recommend Vanessa enough!

I am a patient of Dr. Joseph Sgroi and have been for many years. Dr. Sgroi has been my fertility doctor and has followed me on my journey of five rounds of IVF to then become my obstetrician.

During one of my regular pregnancy visits to Dr. Sgroi's rooms Vanessa was standing in front of me with a patient. I was aware of who Vanessa was and what amazing doula service she offers as I had seen Dr. Sgroi mention this on his instagram page numerous times. I overheard Vanessa speaking to and offering reassurance to this expectant mother. I was taken aback by Vanessa's kind and professional demeanor. 

The following week I had a pregnancy scare at 29 weeks. I was told that I may have to deliver my precious IVF baby early as he potentially was suffering from IUGR and placental insufficiency. I was absolutely devastated, scared and unsure of what my babies future held. I fortunately thought to reach out last minute to Vanessa on instagram on a Sunday morning to see if she could guide me through this difficult journey I now was facing. Vanessa replied promptly and we chatted on the phone. As soon as I spoke to Vanessa my husband and I knew that Vanessa would immensely help us navigate this difficult journey as she was very knowledgeable and empathetic to our situation. 

Throughout the duration of my pregnancy I had a few minor scares and Vanessa was only a phone call, text, email or zoom call away! In the lead up to delivering our baby I cannot count on both hands how many times Vanessa offered myself and husband reassurance and advice. From how to relieve my pelvic pain (using a medicine ball!) to what to expect for my c-section (which we were very nervous about). 

My husband and I were so very blessed and were able to deliver our beautiful baby boy Michael at 39 weeks via c-section! Vanessa met us at Epworth Freemasons on the day of Michael's birth and was there every step of the way. To have someone with us who was uplifting, provided reassurance and positive energy made the day so relaxing and memorable. My husband and I still to this day agree that we would not have been so calm and relaxed if Vanessa had not offered various birth preparation consults in the lead up to our babies birth. Knowing we had Vanessa with us on our big day to advocate for us and explain anything that was unclear was extremely reassuring.  

I am now three weeks postpartum and find myself consulting Vanessa regularly in regards to breast feeding, baby rashes (the list goes on!!!) Vanessa is not just a doula for pre birth - her after service is exceptional! To know that I can just pick up my phone with a question or to have someone offer me emotional support is so very comforting. 

Vanessa is kind, non judgemental, positive and experienced in her field. I cannot recommend Vanessa's doula service enough to anyone expecting a baby. Without a doubt I will be hiring Vanessa for our next pregnancy as herself and Joseph Sgroi make an exceptional multidisciplinary team.
